Random Review Dump: Shu Uemura & Bobbi Brown

Ladies, today I will be reviewing three items that I have randomly picked out from my makeup stash, in my little blog segment called Random Review Dump! /still lame, hahaha.

Anyway, I've had these items for quite a while now, but I've never gotten to write reviews on them. I got all of these from November last year to early this year - one item I've even stopped using already. Heh. So my apologies for the late reviews. Shall we start? :)

Shu Uemura Shimmer Eyeliner in Comet Silver

Shu Uemura says:
Accentuate eye contour with a glittery liquid eyeliner in a water-proof formula. Glitter reflection varies according to lighting effects — sometimes subtle, sometimes sparkly — to create a multiple array of eye looks.
My quick 2¢:
I love this shimmer liner! I use it for the inner corners of my eyes, and it does a great job of making my eyes look brighter. At first it might seem to you as a typical glitter liner - but it's not. This thing is WATERPROOF AND SMUDGE-PROOF like heck!

When I first tried it, I made the mistake of trying to remove it hastily by wiping it off using my [clean] fingers, and I ended up tugging on my eyelid so hard. Yet, the liner hardly budged, and instead, a part of it peeled off, and it felt like I had my eyelid waxed! OUCH LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW! (Disclaimer: It is not okay to rub or to tug on your eyelids, the skin around your eye area, or on the rest of your face for that matter! This happened months ago, and I know better now. LOL.)

So yeah, once it dries, it will not budge at all. At all. You can cry, sweat, get soaked in water and whatnot, but it will still be there. It will only come off with makeup remover, so be sure to have some if you're planning to get this glitter liner!

It is also quite easy  to apply, I love the tiny and soft but firm felt tip applicator, as well as the long 'handle'.

I would definitely repurchase. I would love to get my hands on other colors, as well!

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Bobbi Brown says:
This award-winning liner gives you the look of liquid liner with the ease & feel of a gel formula. Long-wearing, water-resistant color glides on & let's you get it just right before it dries - then stays without a smear or crease.
Won Big-Day Beauty Awards 'Martha Stewart Weddings' (May 2012).
Awarded 'Best of Beauty' by 'Allure' Magazine (2011).

To apply: Dip tip of Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush (coat both sides of brush head). Wipe off excess before applying to eye. Work quickly as product becomes transfer-resistant once dry. To remove, use Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover

My quick 2¢:
I had stopped using this eyeliner a while back, I just had to give up on it. I wasn't impressed with it At all. After a couple of weeks of using it, it had already become dry, like it would flake really bad during application. (And mind you, I'm extra careful when it comes to keeping my gel eyeliner jars tightly sealed so that they don't dry up. Not to mention, I'm quite sure I picked up a fresh stock. AND, I wash my eyeliner brush daily.) After a month or so, I found that I could simply not apply it easily anymore without spraying it with a little MAC Fix+ beforehand. Lest, I would have tiny flakes of eyeliner getting into my eyes, which is just horrible.

As for the long-wearing part, I wasn't convinced either. Oftentimes, by midday, it would have already given me panda eyes, eek! Sometimes, it would even flake, which again, I abosolutely hate.

I used MAC Fluidline for a pretty loooong time, and I loved it to bits. It's still my favorite gel eyeliner. Sorry, Bobbi Brown.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Walnut

Bobbi Brown says:
Line and go with Bobbi's new and improved Creamy Eye Pencil. This modern formula applies smoothly and evenly, and provides intense color. Pencil features a built-in smudger on the opposite end to soften liner for a subtle, smoky effect. Each pencil comes with a complimentary sharpener.
My quick 2¢:
This is a so-so eyeliner for me. I reach for this on laid back, low maintenance days. It's very easy to apply - it's creamy and doesn't tug on my eyelids, and the color applies quite easily.

I also really like the color! It's a neutral brown that's neither too dark nor too light, just the right shade. Well, for me, at least. I love to use it to subtly define my eyes for a no-makeup look.

As for staying power, don't expect it to hold up for more than a few hours. You would definitely have to retouch at least once during the day. It also tends to smudge and transfer easily. What I like to do is to pat on a little powder on my eyelids after drawing a line, and then draw another layer on top - seems to make it a bit less prone to smudging, hee.

I DO NOT use this when I know I would need my eyeliner to really hold up the whole day. For that, I like to use my Dior Long-Wear Waterproof Eye Pencil or Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof.

Overall, it's a pretty good basic eyeliner, although I don't think I would repurchase.

SK-II Haul/Rave + Favorite Perfumes Tag

Hey hey hey! How has every one been doing? Hm, as usual, I've been occupied with work, ack. But nevermind that for now - it's blog time~ :D

So I've recently (okay, not that recently) revamped my skincare routine - I've become head over heels in love, hooked and pretty much obssessed with SK-II!!!

MY SKIN'S TRUE LOVES~!

I've been using SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser and Facial Treatment Cleansing Gel (alternately with my Lancome Comforting Cleansing Milk for Dry Skin) for almost 2 months now. While the Facial Treatment Clear LotionCellumination Mask-In Lotion, and Whitening Source Derm-Revival Masks, I've been using for almost a month. And man, how do I begin to tell you how much I love SK-II? *sighs lovingly* HOHOHO

I'm thinking I should get the new Cellumination Essence EX and the Whitening Source Derm-Brightener once I'm done with the essence and moisturizers I'm currently using. But I don't know, the reviews for WS Derm-Brightener I've read so far aren't exactly the best, while the Cellumination Essence EX is no cheap-o at almost S$300 for only 50ml downtown.

Anyway, SK-II has made my skin so much clearer, finer, softer and more radiant. Like lately, I haven't been using that much foundation or BB cream, you know, like I used to. Just a super super super tiny bit of tinted moisturizer or BB cream blended into the skin until it's barely visible - or sometimes not even any face makeup at all - and I'm all good. All thanks to SK-II! I don't know how in the world I will be able to live without SK-II now!

I'll update you guys with a new skincare post next time! :)

So yeah, moving on from my passionate SK-II rave, I also thought I'd do this favorite perfumes tag which Jen (www.frmheadtotoe.com) did a while back.

What can I say, I love my perfumes - I feel naked going out without wearing any fragrance. I can be quite picky when it comes to perfumes, though. I usually like floral, fruity, fresh and feminine scents which are soft and easy to wear. I'm definitely not a fan of classic, musky, or spicy fragrances, or pretty much any strong scent for the matter.

CD Miss Dior Chérie Blooming Bouquet, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Chloé, Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One

Christian Dior Miss Dior Chérie Blooming Bouquet (Eau de Toilette)
One of the first fragrances I fell in love with is Miss Dior Chérie Blooming Bouquet. It's floral (as the name suggests, lol), somewhat sweet, and very feminine and elegant. Not to mention how much I love Natalie Portman, heehee!
Notes: Essence of Mandarin, Peony, Musk

Marc Jacobs Daisy (Eau de Parfum)
I love how this perfume is floral fresh and light and great for everyday wear. It's a great summer fragrance.
Notes: Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White Woods

Chloé (Eau de Parfum)
It's floral fresh, very feminine and chic. I feel all sophisticated when I'm wearing it, haha! It's one of my two go-to everyday perfumes as of the moment, the other one being Dolce & Gabbana Rose the One.
Notes: Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lilly of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Honey

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre (Eau de Toilette)
Chance Eau Tendre used to be my signature scent. Though I have somewhat outgrew it as my everyday fragrance, it still has a special spot in my heart. It's supposedly a floral fruity version of the original Chanel Chance. It's fresh, soft, romantic and delicate - the type of scent which I basically love. Oh and yes, I love Chanel!
Notes: Grapefruit, Quince, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Amber, Cedar, Iris and White Musk

Dolce & Gabbana Rose the One (Eau de Parfum)
As I have mentioned previously, this is one of my go-to everyday perfumes right now. It's floral, a bit fruity, smells sophisticated and er, sexy. Heehee! Have you seen Scarlett Johansson's ad for this fragrance? Gorgeous!
Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin, Peach, Muguet, Bulgarian Rose, Peony, Geranium, Madonna Lily, Plum, Ambrette Seed, Vanilla, Amber, Musk

Other perfumes which I absolutely adore, but have yet to get my hands on, are Lanvin Marry Me, D&G No. 3 L'Imperatrice and Givenchy Un Air d'Escapade.

So lovelies, do you have any skincare or makeup product that has captured your heart lately? Or would you care to share your favorite fragrances as well? :)

Sponsored Review: GEO Mimi Café Macchiato

Hey, everyone! So last January, I received a pair of lenses from Lens Village to review. I chose GEO Mimi Café Macchiato Brown as I've been dying to try it for quite a while. Thank you, Lens Village!

Base Curve: 8.7
Diameter: 15.0

Color and Design:
To be completely honest... It's GORGEOUS. I love how the swirly design makes the eyes look all soft and dreamy, yet natural enough to wear everyday. Up close you will definitely notice the pattern so it won't look natural. From afar, indoors and under natural light, though, it looks very natural. The design and the color blend in nicely. It's looks natural but with a kick. Ackkk, I don't know how to explain it, I just love it so much! BTW, in case you're wondering, IMO, this looks more natural than its sister circle lens Mimi Café Cappuccino Brown as the latter tends to look flat and dull.

Enlargement: (or more like 6/5!)
This pair, like the Mimi Café Cappuccino Brown which I previously reviewed, is HUGE. Obviously, it's 15.0mm so expect it to be really big. Can be a little tricky to wear, and I'm pretty sure this would look so weird without makeup. Definitely perfect for a dolly look, this one! Oh, and did I mention how much I LOVE LOVE how it looks in photos? Yes, I do!

Comfort:
It's quite tricky for me to evaluate circle lenses' comfort because, as some of you guys might remember, my eyes have been extra dry since I moved to Singapore. (Don't ask, I don't know why either!) They're doing much better now than they did a couple of months ago, like I've been able to wear my circle lenses daily again without too much trouble. Anyway, considering my eyes' sensitive state as of late, they've been tolerating this pair quite well. Of course, my eyes get dry after a few hours, but nothing too bad - I could still wear them the whole day without wanting to rip them off my eyes. I reckon if I my eyes' condition was as normal as, say, when I was back home, I'd find these lenses to be pretty darn comfortable.

Overall, I'd give GEO Mimi Café Macchiato Brown a - it's a great MEBB pair of circle lenses, and I love it to bits. I'm definitely going to repurchase~ (P.S. This is a very honest rave, okay! LOL)

As you can see, I changed my layout (yet again). I was going for something simpler and cleaner than my previous layouts. I actually wanted to go for something professional... But that obviously didn't work out. LOL.

Anyway, work has been really hectic and demanding, I hardly have time to really rest, ugh. So pardon my extreme lack of posts. I know I keep on saying I will try to update more, but I guess with this kind of work schedule, it would be very difficult to do that. HUU. Please do bear with me!

So yeah, I'll be working on the following reviews and posts once I find time:

1. NEW Skincare Routine/Reviews! (SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser, SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion, SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, SK-II Cellumination Mask-in Lotion, L'oreal White Perfect Day and Night Creams, etc.!)
2. Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect
3. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner and Creamy Eye Pencil
4. Dior Crayon Eyeliner Waterproof
5. Shu Uemura Shimmer Eyeliner

8. Givenchy Prisme Libre, Le Prisme Visage Mat, Matissime, and Doctor White compact foundation
9. Guerlain Meteorites Limited Edition and Make-up Palette
10. ...and a whole lot more stuff I've probably forgotten about.

Wish me luck! With my schedule, hopefully I find time to fishing reviewing everything before 2020! LOL~ /sweatdrop
